Abu-Ghazaleh Discusses Means of Cooperation and Joint Investment with the Senate's Jordanian-Uzbek Brotherhood Committee

AMMAN – The Jordanian-Uzbek Brotherhood Committee at the Jordanian Senate, chaired by HE Dr. Hayel Obeidat, held a meeting with the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Jordan, Mr. Luay Abu Ghazaleh, to explore means of cooperation and enhance bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh delivered a brief to the committee on the history of bilateral relations between the two countries, underlining the outcomes of the recent visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein to Uzbekistan, and the strategic and important agreements that have been signed, as well as the series of visits of Uzbek government officials to Jordan.

He further revealed that an investment conference would be held in Uzbekistan this year, urging the Jordanian companies to actively participate in it, given the opportunities it offers to explore the investment environment in Uzbekistan and to open new markets in Central Asia. 

Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out that there are distinguished Jordanian sectors that have promising opportunities in Uzbekistan, including the pharmaceutical industry, food industries, banking sector and medical laboratories. 

He also stated that the conference would serve as a platform to introduce the Uzbek investors to investment opportunities in Jordan, in a mechanism that contributes to increasing trade exchange between the two countries. Moreover, he noted that the mutual visa exemption between the two countries would facilitate movement and enhance cooperation between the two countries in many fields. 

Additionally, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh extended his sincere gratitude to the Committee for their kind invitation, reiterating his pride in the well-established Jordanian-Uzbek ties. 

For his part, Dr. Obeidat welcomed HE Consul Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh, highlighting the importance of further strengthening Jordanian-Uzbek ties, especially in light of the recent visit of His Majesty the King Abdullah II to Uzbekistan; a visit that reflected the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries. 

Moreover, Dr. Obeidat referred to the visit of Jordan’s President of the Senate, HE Faisal Al-Fayez, accompanied by an official delegation to Uzbekistan, noting that the visit contributed to reinforcing the longstanding bilateral ties, expanding avenues of cooperation, and strengthening coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest, as well as supporting joint parliamentary collaboration. 

He went on to emphasize the importance of effectively following up on the outcomes of these visits and building upon them in a manner that advances prospects for cooperation. He further highlighted several promising sectors for expanding cooperation, especially in the fields of healthcare, education, and energy, while affirming the significance of fostering partnerships between the private sectors of both countries. 

The Committee Chair reaffirmed the commitment to exerting all possible efforts to advance bilateral ties to broader horizons and to closely follow up on official development that serves the mutual interests of the two countries. 

At the end of the meeting, the Chair and members of the Committee reiterated their commitment to continuing such meetings and to further enhancing coordination at the diplomatic and parliamentary levels, in support of closer ties and advancing bilateral relation across various sectors. 

The meeting was attended by their Excellencies Senators: Mamdouh Nabas, Dr. Ammar Al-Qudah, Dr. Fawaz Hamdallah, Eng. Farouq Al-Hiyari and Dr. Saad Al-Manaseer.

At the end of the meeting, an honorary shield was presented to Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh, followed by a group photo with the Committee’s chair and members.
